Do We Serve God or Earthly Tradition?

JewsThe scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus saying; why do your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread. He answered and said to them; why do you transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?  God commandments says: honour your father and mother and he who curses father or mother, is to be put to death; but you say, whoever says to his father or mother  the profit you received is a gift to God; so he don’t need to  honour his parents. Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition (Matthew 15:1-6). Oh Tradition! Tradition! Tradition! We still hold on to it today, being confused about what the scripture teaches. We have had generation upon generations come to and from this earth and still we have not fully understand that the traditions we so carefully follow have no place in the kingdom of God. Jesus is the Lord of the law, do we think He needed any one telling Him how to keep it? Are we so caught-up in our traditions that we fail to realise that it has nothing to do with the reason Jesus came to earth? Well, why were the people of God so caught up with their traditions? Is it not because they were not spiritually minded? Surprise surprise, they were not, but carnal. They perceived everything Jesus said to be earthly, and not heavenly, this is the reason they threaten to get rid of Him. He kept on and on, telling  them that He came from God, but they did not believe Him. They thought that they knew who He was because they knew His earthly father, not the Heavenly one, therefore how could they accepted Him as the Son of God? Well, earthly people only knows what goes on in the earthly realm, but Holy Spirit led people knows both the earthly things and the heavenly things because the Spirit from heaven teaches heavenly things He takes from God to those who choose to hear it (Hear what the Spirit says to the churches). Can we Hear God’s Spirit? Is He the one we Get our wisdom from, or is it earthly? With this in mind, we will tackle the real issue here.

jesus_teachingJesus taught that the kingdom of heaven is within you. Well, how can a heavenly kingdom be in earthly humans I hear you ask? Well, Only Jesus can explain this if we listen to the message He delivered to us from His Father. He continued repeating over and over that He is the Messiah, which God’s people knew and understood, but yet when the Messiah arrived, they rejected Him. The very ones that should be welcoming Him in the congregation. Well, I ask you this: are you following the traditions of your congregation, or the commandments of God? Jesus made it plain that He did not come to destroy the law, but to keep it. Was He advising us to break it? Certainly not! The law Jesus came to offer us is written on our hearts, not in books, scripts, or stones, but within us. This is the reason He stated that the kingdom of God is within you. John proclaim to the crowd, that the kingdom of God was at hand and when it came, not many was ready to receive it, because repentance had to take place before it is embedded in the heart. Yes, repentance. We were all doomed to die and for us to receive life, we need to turn and walk the other way, and that way leads to life everlasting. This kind of life requires humility, a thing tradition cannot accept. They though that their ways was right, and it was to be continued even if one had to die innocently for it. This has multiplied in our day and the same people who claimed that they follow this and they follow that tradition, is worst than before. In Jesus’ day, there was fewer to deal with, but look how many traditional congregations around you! How on earth will a lost soul find their way to repent and have the laws written in their hearts, when there is a veil (denominational division) blocking them from finding it. The people of old was rebuked on several occasions for the same reason by Paul and he was not happy at all about God’s people being divided about the same gospel (1 Corinthians 1:10-13).

Christian groupsChrist did not come to divide God’s people, but to bring them together in unity with one another, in ONE mind and in ONE accord. Only then did they filled them with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4). Will God send His Spirit on people who disagree? Will they not have more power to disagree? God is not a God of confusion, and His chosen and Called, are not either. They are the ones living with the weeds until the day comes to be harvested. The harvest is coming, and we heed to be ready for it, and in ONE accord! If we cannot even agree with each other here on earth, how will we agree in God’s kingdom? It is impossible for light and darkness to have anything in common. Now I urge God’s people to have love among each other because God is love. Love covers many sins, therefore let us put away evil among ourselves and come together in one accord, so we too may be filled with the Holy Spirit Jesus promised to lead us into all truth. Serve God and make no room for earthly tradition. God bless you.
