TBQ

Not for God’s people if they take heed of His warnings. You will not get caught up in the re-session going on if you take example from those of old. They too had famines, but did they suffer? No, they did not, as they kept their trust in God. He gave them wisdom, and they had food to sell to those who did not have any, they moved, some of them to where there were food, some gathered for hard times. If we do the same we should not be bothered. I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread (Psalm 37:25). If this is true, we should not be begging for bread; I am not actually, are you? God knows how to look after His people, and they do not beg, they have enough to give to those in need.

What they did in famine days

Genesis 12:10 Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to dwell there, for the famine was severe in the land Genesis 26:1 There was a famine in the land, besides the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines, in Gerar.

Genesis 41:25-40 25, 56-57 Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The dreams of Pharaoh are one; God has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do: 26 The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good heads are seven years; the dreams are one. 27 And the seven thin and ugly cows which came up after them are seven years, and the seven empty heads blighted by the east wind are seven years of famine. 28 This is the thing which I have spoken to Pharaoh. God has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do.

29 Indeed seven years of great plenty will come throughout all the land of Egypt; 30 but after them seven years of famine will arise, and all the plenty will be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine will deplete the land. 31 So the plenty will not be known in the land because of the famine following, for it will be very severe. 32 And the dream was repeated to Pharaoh twice because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.

33 “Now therefore, let Pharaoh select a discerning and wise man, and set him over the land of Egypt. 34 Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, to collect one-fifth of the produce of the land of Egypt in the seven plentiful years. 35 And let them gather all the food of those good years that are coming, and store up grain under the authority of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities. 36 Then that food shall be as a reserve for the land for the seven years of famine which shall be in the land of Egypt, that the land may not perish during the famine.”

37 So the advice was good in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of all his servants. 38 And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?” 39 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Inasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you. 40 You shall be over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only on the throne will I be greater than you.” 56 The famine was over all the face of the earth, and Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold to the Egyptians. And the famine became severe in the land of Egypt. 57 So all countries came to Joseph in Egypt to buy grain, because the famine was severe in all lands.

Ruth 1:1 Now it came to pass, in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem, Judah, went to dwell in the country of Moab, he and his wife and his two sons.

2 Samuel 21:1 There was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year; and David inquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, “It is because of Saul and his bloodthirsty house, because he killed the Gibeonites.” 2 Kings 4:38 Elisha returned to Gilgal, and there was a famine in the land. Now the sons of the prophets were sitting before him; and he said to his servant, “Put on the large pot, and boil stew for the sons of the prophets.” Job 5:22 You shall laugh at destruction and famine, and you shall not be afraid of the beasts of the earth.

Our turn

If we do sit and nothing, we will suffer with the others the famine that we can see around us and we will not be ready for it. It has started to happen, so take head, and do not be caught up in it, as we can see what it does to others in nearby countries.

Luke 21:11 There will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.

Revelation 6:5-6 When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius (A Day’s pay), and three quarts of barley for a denarius (A Day’s pay); and do not harm the oil and the wine.”

Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? What are we going to do now? Is it different from those before us? No. as we all come into this world in turn, and God will not change His mind. If He says it will happen, we need to prepare for when it does. If we take heed these things, when our turn comes, we will not suffer loss, and our barns like Joseph will be full, ready and waiting for the famine, and we will be able to have enough for ourselves and others.

Psalm 68:6 God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; But the rebellious dwell in a dry land. 3 John 1:2-3 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. 3 For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth.

There’s a time for everything under the sun, now it is famine time, and we will be just fine if we prepare for it. Deuteronomy 29:9 Therefore keep the words of this covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do. Psalm 25:13 He himself shall dwell in prosperity, and his descendants shall inherit the earth. God bless you.
