Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry. For it is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God and Him only shall you serve.’” Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to Him. Matthew 4:1-12
Bible Quoting is very powerful when you quote it as intended, because it is the word of God, and works wonders with His authority. When Satan quoted the bible to Jesus, it had no power over Him, because of satan’s doubts (If you are), temptation, and self-glorification. Jesus uses His authority to reject Satan’s quotes, because God cannot be tempted with evil. Jesus had no problem rebuking Satan and his tricks, because when Jesus quoted the bible to the devil, He did so with God’s authority and for God’s glory, not His own. When you use the word of God, submit first to His authority and be certain that if you doubt God’s ability to perform it, you will be disappointed.
God gave us the authority to live by every word that comes out of His mouth. To do so, you need to be demonstrating faith in His power and believe that there is nothing impossible for Him, because God’s word does not return to Him void. If it is not His will to do what you ask, it will be left undone (Matthew 26:39). It could be that you asked for self gain or praise, instead of His glory. Jesus submitted to God’s will, even when He had authority from God, but His Father’s will was far too important to Him than His “drinking the cup”(Matthew 26:39). He also understood that The Father knew best. We need to learn from Jesus’ example, and do the same.
Next time you quote a bible passage, make sure you believe that God is not going to bow down to anyone’s temptation, or their will, if it doesn’t line up with His will. No matter what authority you have, God has the final authority and that put everyone in submission to Him and His will. We are the ones that need to bow to His authority so He can show us His power every time He needs to show it. That is why we need to be still and know that He is God, and He will be exalted, not commanded. When Satan commanded Jesus to change the stones into bread etc.., he did not and will not submit to the one with God’s authority. Because of this selfish act, His quotes was of no effect. May God teach us to submit to Him and everything He stands for, so we may receive what we ask Him through His Begotten Son Jesus Christ, according to His will. God bless you.
